Oigh Niseach

Oigh Niseach has spent all her working life in sail-training and was donated to Falmadair by  Simon Grey, from the family who first commissioned her.

A temporary boatshed was sourced and erected on Scalpay where Mark Stockl, boatbuilder, has a home. Our structure has not held up to the winter gales but has provided enough shelter for main structural works to be completed.  A new trailer funded by Awards For All has proved invaluable.

With the permission of main funders, Urras Oighreachd Ghabhsainn, repairs to the more recent sgoth (built J M Macleod) were done as a means to involve the island community in maintaining and sailing these craft pending the longer-term full restoration of the 1935 sgoth 'Jubilee' (J F Macleaod).

Currently Oigh Niseach is at Newton Marine and is due to be sailed to Luggerfest ’26 in May
